The interview process
- 1
Application review
OfficialApply online through the careers site. A typical hiring process includes an application review, a phone interview and virtual interviews, conversations with references and finally an offer. Depending on the role you may be asked for a writing sample or code sample, or to complete a case study. Process varies slightly by role.
- 2
Phone and virtual interviews
OfficialPhone interview followed by virtual interviews. The number and length of interviews depend on the role. If you apply to more than one role you may meet separate interviewer groups.
- 3
Technical interviews (quant analysis and software roles)
OfficialBehavioural questions plus questions from mathematics and/or computer science: probability, mathematical statistics, algorithms, logical thinking and programming. The firm says it cares about how you reason and which techniques you pick, not only the correct answer.
- 4
Trading and fundamental analyst interviews
OfficialInterviews for trading and fundamental analyst roles do not assume pre-existing technical or financial knowledge but assess comfort with statistical and logical reasoning. Expect behavioural, situational and case-study questions (for example a business decision with several factors to weigh).
- 5
Internship timing
OfficialInternships are 10 to 12 weeks, typically from early June to mid-August. Applications are considered on a rolling basis; the intern class is usually chosen early in the first quarter of the internship year, and the firm recommends applying by the end of the previous calendar year.
