The interview process

  1. 1

Optional: student event (E-House Day / Trading Days)

    Official

Not a formal stage, but the Amsterdam Graduate Trader listing strongly recommends attending a (virtual) E-House Day to prepare. The Amsterdam Flow Quant Trading Days (15 students; CV and cover letter; deadline 13 Nov 2026) can lead directly to a full-time Graduate Trader offer.

  2. 2

    Application

    Official

CV and cover letter through the Flow Traders careers site (Greenhouse). Graduate Trader is open only to penultimate and final-year students. Recruiting is rolling all year, with four intakes a year. No visa sponsorship for interns.

  3. 3

    Online numerical test

    Official

Official: a numerical test of mental maths and number sequences, described as a key part of Graduate Trader recruiting. Technology roles take a HackerRank test instead.

  4. 4

    Online numerical test (format details)

    Reported

Reported by TradingInterview.com, which says it hosts Flow Traders' assessments (the official graduates page links to it for the Math Test). Math test: 60 arithmetic, decimal and fraction questions in 6 minutes. Sequences test: 26 questions in 25 minutes. Both mark wrong answers minus one; skipped questions score zero.

  5. 5

    Recruiter interview

    Official

Covers business knowledge, motivation and cultural fit.

  6. 6

    Trader interview

    Official

Covers business knowledge, problem-solving and brainteasers.

  7. 7

Final round: case study / superday

    Official

A case study led by two senior Traders, testing trading intuition, decision-making and adaptability. Candidates are expected at a Flow Traders office, and the firm books flights and accommodation for those travelling. For the New York Summer 2027 internship, the final round was a superday held in person in New York.

  8. 8

    Timeline

    Official

New York listings say the full process takes 4-8 weeks for Graduate Quantitative Trader and 5-10 weeks for the Summer 2027 internship. Graduate Traders in every region start with a roughly three-month training programme in Amsterdam.

  9. 9

    Quant research / trading-team process

    Official

Published for Experienced Trading / Quantitative Research hires: application, recruiter interview, interview with the potential team (experience, technical skills, knowledge), then a final interview with the Head of Trading and team members. Flow Traders publishes no separate process for PhD Graduate Quantitative Researcher roles.
