The interview process

  1. 1

    Application

    Official

Submit a resume on Moelis's student application website; cover letters are not required. A one-page resume is advised. No finance background is needed for campus programmes. Candidates can submit up to two applications and must pick one role if selected to interview for several.

  2. 2

    Suited assessment

    Official

US and UK applicants must complete the Suited assessment (over 50 traits such as attention to detail and critical reasoning; allow about 30 minutes uninterrupted). It is taken once and results can be shared with other firms that request it.

  3. 3

    Application timing

    Official

Typical windows, not specific 2026 dates: US Summer Analyst opens in December of the sophomore year, US Summer Associate (MBA) in the October before the internship, London and Beijing Summer Analyst in August for internships starting the next year, Hong Kong Summer Analyst in May for internships starting the next year. Timelines vary by location, university and programme.

  4. 4

    First-round interviews

    Official

One to two first-round interviews with investment bankers, combining technical and behavioural questions.

  5. 5

    Final round

    Official

Second-round candidates attend an onsite final round meeting several senior bankers who test knowledge and capabilities.

  6. 6

    Internship and conversion

    Official

Global internship programmes run through the year and offer a route to full-time employment; summer programmes are 10 weeks, with 3-month (Amsterdam, Frankfurt) and 6-month (Paris, Dubai, Riyadh) internships elsewhere. Moelis states full-time banking hires are expected to have finance experience such as prior banking internships.
