The interview process
- 1
Application
OfficialApply through the XTX Markets job board (Greenhouse). XTX asks you to submit one application even if several openings interest you, and will reallocate you if appropriate. Internships give insight into the firm but XTX states it does not run a graduate programme and an internship does not necessarily lead to a full-time offer. The previous summer cycle's internships (Summer 2026) were posted in early September 2025 and closed on 21 September 2025; shortlisted candidates heard back in the final week of September.

XTY Labs AI Research Internship interview (stated by XTX)
OfficialFour stages: an introductory conversation with the recruitment team; a take-home exercise building an AI model end to end on a provided dataset; a discussion with the Research Director on your research history, deep learning knowledge and fit; and a final one-hour interview with an XTX quantitative researcher or an XTY researcher. Topics: research experience, modern and classical machine learning, general mathematics (linear algebra, analysis, probability) and hands-on programming. No finance experience is needed.
- 3
Online assessment (other quant and engineering roles)
ReportedReported by candidates: a combined machine learning and probability test for researchers (sometimes with a small data-analysis part) and two or three hard algorithmic problems in 90 to 120 minutes for engineers. Described as one of the harder industry assessments, with reported pass rates of roughly 5 to 10 percent. XTX does not publish the format.
- 4
Phone screen
ReportedReported: a 60-minute call with a working researcher or engineer; machine learning and statistics discussion for researchers, live coding for engineers.
- 5
Super day and decision
ReportedReported: five to six interviews of 45 to 60 minutes in one day at the London office, run by working researchers and engineers; offers usually arrive within 1 to 2 weeks and the whole process takes about 4 to 6 weeks. These figures are illustrative estimates from the source, not endorsed by XTX.
