Privacy policy

Draft of 10 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data Whitmore collects, why, who it is shared with and the choices you have. Whitmore is an interview-preparation service for finance careers.

Who we are

Whitmore is operated by [owner's full legal name], a sole trader trading as Whitmore, [postal address], which is the controller of your personal data. You can contact us about privacy at privacy@getwhitmore.com.

What we collect

Account details: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form that we cannot read.

Your plan: the region, level, roles and firms you choose, so we can show the right deadlines and practice.

Practice data: your drill and test results and your flashcard progress.

Technical data: a log-in cookie that keeps you signed in, a cookie that remembers your language, and your light or dark theme choice, which is kept in your own browser.

Payments, once paid plans launch: payments are handled by our payment provider, Stripe. We receive your plan and payment status, never your full card number.

Mock interviews, once they launch: what you type or say during a mock interview is processed to run the interview and to score your answers. Voice or video is recorded only if you agree, and you can delete recordings at any time.

Why we use it

To provide the service you signed up for: your account, plan, practice and progress (performance of our contract with you).

To keep Whitmore secure and working, and to improve it using combined statistics that do not identify you (our legitimate interests).

To meet legal obligations, for example keeping payment records.

To send you product news or offers only if you have agreed. Every such email has an unsubscribe link.

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to run the service: one to keep you logged in and one to remember your language. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we ever add analytics, we will ask for your consent first where the law requires it.

Who we share it with

Service providers that run parts of Whitmore for us, under contracts that require them to protect your data: hosting and database, email delivery, payments (Stripe) and, once mock interviews launch, our AI provider (Anthropic), which processes interview content to generate the interviewer's replies and scores.

Authorities, if the law requires it.

We never sell your personal data or share it for advertising. We never share your practice data with employers.

International transfers

Some providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on approved safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and practice data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your account, plan, practice results and flashcard progress are deleted straight away, and removed from backups within 7 days. Payment records are kept for as long as tax law requires.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, object to or restrict some uses, and withdraw consent at any time. You can delete your account yourself in Settings.

If you are in the UK or the European Union, you can complain to your data protection authority, such as the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

If you live in California, you have the right to know, correct and delete your personal information. We do not sell or share it for advertising.

Children

Whitmore is for university students and graduates. It is not intended for anyone under 16.

Security

Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, and access to personal data is limited to what is needed to run the service.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
